Goodwill stores across Central Florida hosts ‘Shoe The World Day’

ORLANDO, Fla. — Goodwill stores across Central Florida invited people this week to celebrate “Shoe The World Day” by donating footwear to those in need.

Goodwill said the event supports people who may not be able to afford shoes.

Donators were asked to bring their gently used shoes to any Goodwill store.

Officials said the event sheds light on the importance of and the need for quality footwear for millions of people worldwide who can’t afford or don’t have access to it.

Donations allow Goodwill to provide low-cost goods to the community while also providing resources and jobs to Central Floridians, officials said.

Goodwill said revenue generated through sales of donated items fund the organization’s job placement and training services and its vocational rehabilitation program.
