GROVELAND, Fla. — A Lake County woman is accused of stabbing another person with a piece of broken glass during a domestic altercation, according to an arrest affidavit.
Deputies responded to a Groveland home on Aug. 18 after a 911 caller reported that two people had been injured during a fight.
Investigators said 27-year-old Shavannah Stafford entered the victim’s room and began hitting the victim with a fan and a lamp.
According to the affidavit, Stafford then grabbed a glass mason jar and tried to strike the victim with it. The victim took the jar and hit Stafford in the head, causing it to shatter, deputies said.
Investigators said Stafford then picked up a shard of glass and stabbed the victim.
Deputies said the victim had a head injury that was “squirting blood” and a deep cut to the left elbow. The victim was taken to a hospital because of the severity of the injuries.
Stafford told deputies that the other person attacked her first and that her injuries were caused when she rolled around on the broken glass. Deputies noted a small cut on her right pinky and pieces of glass in her hair.
Investigators determined Stafford was the primary aggressor and arrested her on a charge of aggravated battery. She was taken to the Lake County Jail without bond.
