ORLANDO, Fla. — Central Florida will remain in an unsettled weather pattern through the weekend, with heavy rain and frequent lightning continuing to be the biggest concerns.
A cold front is expected to stall across the region, keeping rain chances elevated Tuesday evening and into Wednesday.
Heavy rain will be the primary threat from storms, with frequent lightning also possible.
Rain chances stay high through weekend
Severe Weather Center 9 is forecasting a 60% chance of rain Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Rain chances increase to 70% Saturday before dropping slightly to 60% Sunday.
Sea breeze storms could develop during both weekend afternoons, bringing another round of heavy rain and frequent lightning.
Some storms could also produce wind gusts of up to 50 mph.
Heat also builds
Despite the increased rain chances, periods of afternoon sunshine will allow temperatures to climb into the low to mid-90s through the end of the workweek.
The heat index could reach triple digits in parts of Central Florida.
The pattern of heat and afternoon thunderstorms is expected to continue into the beginning of next week.
