OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — An Orange County corrections sergeant and internal affairs investigator ended up in the Osceola County jail on a DUI charge.
Osceola County deputies say they arrested Sgt. Juan Santiago after he was caught driving drunk and over the speed limit.
Investigators say Santiago had bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, and couldn’t walk in a straight line when they pulled him over.
The incident started when a deputy witnessed Santiago run a stop sign and a red light.
According to an arrest report, Santiago was driving 22 miles per hour over the speed limit and at first he didn't stop. When he did, deputies say he tried to hand over a credit card instead of his license.
In the past ten years, Santiago has worked his way up the ladder, going from an officer to sergeant, and now internal affairs investigator.
Santiago is now at the center of his own internal investigation. Jail officials have placed him on administrative duty pending further investigation.
