ORLANDO, Fla. — The Ivanhoe Boulevard exit ramp closure marks the first permanent closure for the Interstate 4 Ultimate project.
"With the widening of I-4, and then the intersection improvements, we are going to do right here in this area and the drainage improvements. It's just not going to accommodate this exit ramp," said Jessica Keane with the Florida Department of Transportation.
Signs showed Ivanhoe Boulevard traffic should use the Princeton Street exit, and then turn down Orange Avenue.
Florida Department of Law Enforcement officials said construction crews have widened the Princeton Street ramp to handle the extra traffic.

"We plan to have an extra left turn lane to accommodate capacity while construction is going on," said Keane.
In about two weeks, there will be another major road closure related to the I-4 Ultimate project.
The South Street entrance ramp to I-4 east is scheduled to close July 7.
FDOT said it's because of the reconstruction of the I-4 interchange at State Road 408.
Drivers will have to enter I-4 east at Anderson Street or at the intersection of Garland and Concord streets.
