Julie Salomone

Julie joined the Channel 9 Eyewitness News team as a general assignment reporter in October 2013.

Before joining WFTV, Julie worked for WFTX (FOX) in Fort Myers/Naples as a reporter and fill-in anchor.

While at Fox, she investigated the county's EMS system and discovered ambulance delays and failures with their communication devices. Her stories prompted a state investigation by the Florida Department of Health.

She also uncovered payroll theft and fraud within several county parks.

Investigations aside, Julie says she also had a lot of fun, covering visits from presidential candidates, Cal Ripken Jr. and actor/producer Tyler Perry.

Prior to WFTX, Julie traded her flip-flops for snow boots, working as a reporter and anchor at WXOW in La Crosse, Wis.

Julie is a true Floridian and glad to call Orlando home! She grew up in Sarasota and attended college at the University of South Florida in Tampa.

Julie's father encouraged her to pursue a career in TV news. Her sophomore year in college, Julie's father passed away from a heart attack.

"Guess what? Dad was right...journalism is a perfect fit!" she said.

Julie is very excited to meet viewers and asks central Florida residents to not be shy and say hello if you see her around. And if you have a story idea, feel free to email Julie!
