BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — Eyewitness News has learned Bruce Connors, who works as an officer for the Kissimmee Police Department, may lose his job.
Eyewitness News first reported about his hit-and-run last year when he was charged with leaving the scene of a Cocoa Beach area crash at Lido Cabaret, a Brevard County Gentlemen’s Club. The case is still pending.
Eyewitness News obtained a memo outlining his department's intent to terminate his employment, citing violations for standards of conduct and city of Kissimmee rules and regulations related to improper conduct on or off the job.
During the crash last year, the sheriff's office told Eyewitness News that Connors left the club with two other men. In the surveillance video, they all appeared to joke around before Connors adjusts his flip flops and heads to his truck.
Deputies said this is where a 1965 Oldsmobile was hit the first time. The truck stops, changes direction, and hits the car again, according to surveillance video. The truck pauses before leaving the scene.
Later, a witness and the owner of the vehicle, a Lido's employee, chased after the truck before giving up.
Channel 9’s Melonie Holt checked with the State Attorney's Office on Thursday, and the case is still pending, as is Connors' job status.
Eyewitness News has learned he plans to meet with the city manager in an attempt to save his job in the next three weeks.
Connors has been with the Kissimmee Police Department since 2004.
