Lake County Farmers’ and Flea Market reopens after closing for months due to pandemic

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. — The Lake County Farmers’ and Flea Market is back open after being closed for months due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Customers said they were happy when they heard it was reopening.

“We were excited. We figured since the snowbirds left that there wouldn’t be that many vendors. My husband likes to cook and he came in to specifically get cases of tomatoes. He’s Italian, so he’s going to make his homemade Italian sauce. So, he is happy its open,” a customer said.

Vendors said they were also excited and couldn’t wait to get back inside and set up their booths.

“I got the news last week and I was thrilled,” a vendor said. “A couple of my customers -- I have their numbers, I was texting them and calling them, ‘Hey were going to be open.’ I’ve seen about five of them. The others said they will be out next week.”

In order to keep people safe at the market, signs have been put up reminding people to practice social distancing and virus prevention awareness.
