LAKE COUNTY, Fla. — A new best friend could be the sweetest treat of the season. The Lake County Animal Shelter is waiving all pet adoption fees Oct. 29 through Nov. 1 during its four-day Howl-O-Ween adoption event.

The promotion gives residents considering a new pet a chance to meet the shelter’s adoptable animals and speak with adoption counselors.

Every adoption includes spay or neuter surgery, initial vaccinations, a microchip and a personalized identification tag.

“This promotion is a wonderful opportunity to connect more adoptable pets with loving families as the holiday season approaches,” said Whitney Boylston, director of Lake County Animal Services.

When to visit

Adoption counseling will be available during the following hours:

  • Thursday, Oct. 29: 1–6 p.m.
  • Friday, Oct. 30: 1–6 p.m.
  • Saturday, Oct. 31: 1–5 p.m.
  • Sunday, Nov. 1: 1–5 p.m.

Boylston continues, “So many pets are waiting for a place to call home, and we hope to see them surrounded by the love and comfort of their new families.” Residents are encouraged to visit the Lake County Animal Shelter during the event to meet available pets and find a new family member.
