There are at least two more cases out there tied to Trump.

There’s a federal investigation and a state case out of Georgia. The Georgia case as already gone to the grand jury, while the federal case is still in the process of talking to witnesses.

This all is amid Trump launching his third presidential campaign to win back the office he lost in 2020.

But the case out of New York may end up being a big bust, according to former prosecutor Eben Self.

“I don’t think it’s very neat at all, and there are a lot of moving parts,” he said, referring to falsifying business records, and the payments to a former adult film star and former Playboy model may be outside the statute of limitations.

In addition, other prosecutors have taken a look at the case and taken a pass.

“As someone who’s sitting back and watching all the legal proceedings, if I had to assign odds … I would give Trump the odds of (winning),” Trump said.

Meanwhile Trump is still running for president.

University of Central Florida political science professor John Hanley said that polls have moved in Trump’s direction since the indictment was revealed.

“Being able to take up the spotlight means that there’s less spotlight available to other people who are running for the presidency in 2024,” Hanley said.

This is not the first time a politician has had to answer questions about spending when it comes to questions about “hush money payments.”

In 2004, former Democratic nominee John Edwards was indicted for payments to a mistress. The jury deadlocked on five counts and found him guilty on the sixth.
