VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — Three local siblings are continuing a tradition of turning spare change into support for shelter animals.
The children recently surprised the Volusia County Animal Shelter with a donation of pet food purchased using money they collected throughout the year.
The siblings save any money they find and use it to buy pet food for a local animal shelter, making the donation an annual tradition for the past several years.
During their visit, the children spent time with Vitorio, one of the shelter’s dogs, playing in the exercise yard and exploring the agility equipment.
Volusia County Animal Services said donations of pet food and other supplies help support the shelter’s daily operations and care for dogs and cats while they wait for permanent homes. The shelter accepts donations of food, treats, toys, bedding, cleaning supplies and other items throughout the year.
