Man accused in gas station shooting to face judge

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A man arrested following a fatal shooting at an Orange County gas station will be in court Tuesday.

Demetri Burke, 20, is accused of shooting and killing 20-year-old Juan Berrios as he sat in a car at a 7-Eleven store on Landstar Boulevard on Sunday.

Deputies said they believe the shooting was a random act, but Berrios' family members don't agree.

“For the police to be saying random from the get-go and continuing pressing on the random doesn't jive with me,” said Berrios' brother Jose Tavarez.

Tavarez told WFTV his brother had an argument with a man two weeks ago but said they settled it, but now seems to think other people got involved.

“I’m urging the police to continue working with us and not dropping the buck,” he said.

About 50 family members and friends of Berrios gathered at the 7-Eleven Monday night to hold a vigil.
