SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — The 19-year-old man accused of tying up two girls at knife-point and threatening to kill them was accidentally let out of the Seminole County Jail.
The victims found out he was let out when he posed on Instagram this week.
Since then, Jason Zow has been taken back into custody and an internal investigation into the incident has been launched.
Officials said this has never happened in the history of the jail.
Zow was locked up on several charges, including false imprisonment, which carries a no bond status.
But somehow, he was able to pay his bond on the other charges and the jail worker who processed the bond overlooked the hold.
“There were weapons and knives involved. My life was on the line, including my sister,” said one of Zow’s alleged victims, Aisha Andujar.
Zow was moved to the Seminole County jail where he was supposed to be held until trial.
“They said no bond. No bond meaning he wasn’t coming out any time soon,” said Aisha Andujar.
The sisters were living in fear all over again when they learned he was out of jail.
“I had to find out like this? What if I had been walking around the store or something? I’m sure he has a grudge,” said Aisha Andujar.
They called the state attorney’s office in a panic as soon as they saw the Instagram post.
“Somebody should get in trouble because that could have been our lives in danger,” said the second victim, Edshaly Andjuar.
Deputies in Orange County picked up Zow.
Zow was accidentally let out of jail at 11 p.m. Tuesday and was rebooked early Friday.
Deputies were notified he was out by the state attorney’s office at 10 a.m. Thursday.
They had him in custody by 7 p.m.
Seminole County deputies released a statement saying, “There’s an extremely strong security record and while it appears to be an isolated incident involving staff oversight, it is a priority to determine what happened and to prevent it from happening again.”
