• Police: Suspect says Texaco clerk shooting death was 'accident'

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. - WFTV has learned more details about a man accused of killing a Texaco store clerk and robbing several businesses in Seminole County.

Mack Jackson, 27, was arrested on Monday at a hotel in Altamonte Springs. Police said he confessed to eight robberies and claimed the killing of Omar Raheem at the Texaco station on State Road 436 near Oxford Road was an accident.

Officials said they received two Crimeline tips identifying Jackson as a possible suspect. They then compared Jackson's fingerprint to one that was pulled from a robbery scene at a Game Stop store in Casselberry.

In the Texaco killing, investigators said they believe Jackson entered the gas station with a black, semiautomatic handgun and demanded cash from an employee, authorities said.

Officials said he then shot Raheem in the chest and fled on foot after taking an undisclosed amount of money.

Police said Jackson, found hiding at a hotel in Altamonte Springs after seeing his face on TV. Police said he told them Raheem’s shooting happened when his weapon fired accidentally. He said he never meant to shoot.

“So, he says he did shoot the clerk, but it was an accident," said Sgt. Bill Nas. “He does admit that the gun went off. He does say that it was an accidental discharge."

Jackson faces charges that include homicide and homicide while committing a felony. He is currently out on bond for another arrest, though details of that arrest have not been confirmed.
