Man convicted in Osceola County murder-for-hire plot sentenced to life in prison

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — One of the three people charged in a murder-for-hire plot that led to the death of a woman mistaken for the intended victim has been sentenced to life in prison.

Investigators say 39-year-old Ishnar Lopez-Ramos hired two people to kill a romantic rival back in 2018.

However, investigators say 26-year-old Alexis Ramos-Rivera and 26-year-old Glorianmarie Quinones-Montes mistakenly abducted and killed then 42-year-old Janice Marie Zengotita-Torres.

After weeks of testimony, an Osceola County jury found Ramos-Rivera guilty of first-degree murder, kidnapping, carjacking, and robbery.

Ramos-Rivera was sentenced Monday to two life terms on the murder and kidnapping charges, plus 35 years total for the carjacking and robbery.

The sentences will run concurrently, meaning each will be served at the same time.

A pretrial conference for alleged accomplice Glorianmarie Quinones-Montes is set for January 11, 2022. She faces the same charges as Ramos-Rivera.

The accused mastermind, Ishnar Lopez-Ramos, is scheduled for a competency hearing in mid-December.
