DELTONA, Fla. — A 61-year-old man was killed Thursday morning after he walked into the path of an oncoming car as he tried to cross the road in Deltona, authorities said.
The Volusia County Sheriff's Office said the incident happened at about 12:39 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of Howland Boulevard and Elkcam Boulevard.
Deputies said a 2006 Saturn was traveling north on Howland Boulevard when the collision occurred. The victim, Bobby Groover, was transported to Central Florida Regional Hospital in Sanford, where he was pronounced dead at 3:12 a.m.
No other injuries were reported.
