LAKE COUNTY, Fla. — Leesburg police are investigating a drive-by shooting early Monday morning that left one person dead.

Police responded to reports of gunfire at a home in the 1600 block of Center Street just before 1:30 a.m. Monday.
Officers arrived to find one occupant of the home, identified as 19-year-old Damien Shiver, suffering from at least one gunshot wound.
Shiver was taken to UF Health Leesburg where he later died.
Police say Shiver was in the home with six other people when he was shot, including four young children, but no one else was injured.

Now investigators say they’re trying to figure out who was responsible for the shooting and what their motive for it might have been.
No information on a possible suspect has been released.
