Man shot outside The Barn speaks out about attack

SANFORD, Fla. — The man who was shot outside a Sanford nightclub over the weekend is speaking out.

Employees at The Barn posted on Facebook saying the man was not shot at the club, but went there looking for safety after he had been shot.

Police still have not found who fired the almost two-dozen shots, but they hope surveillance video, which they have not released, will help spark some leads.

Dezje Williams, 25, was shot at about 2 a.m. Sunday Monday at the nightclub on French Avenue, the Sanford Police Department said.

Williams posted a Facebook Live video from his hospital bed.

In it, he gives two thumbs up and says he is lucky to be alive.

He then shows his side where there are multiple injuries.

Williams said he has no idea who the shooter was, and that he was performing with some of his friends at the club before the shooting.

The Barn said that is not the case.

Williams said he went to his car to get his cousin when the gunfire broke out.
