Man shot at Sanford apartment complex

SANFORD, Fla. — A shooting at a Sanford apartment complex left a man hospitalized, according to police.

The shooting happened Sunday night at the Windchase apartments, police said.

Detectives said they questioned witnesses as crime scene technicians photographed and marked evidence.

Police said Tony Tillman was shot in the hallway of the apartment building, following a shootout between him and another person.

"What was this fight about?" asked WFTV reporter Steve Barrett.

"We have no idea. We were just thinking it was differences between the neighbors," said Tillman's friend Lasasha Davis.

Davis said shots were also fired Saturday night during a similar dispute, and she wonders why an arrest was not made after that gunfire.

Investigators told WFTV they responded to that incident and a shot was only fired into the air.

"The officers could not find any evidence of the weapon, from what I understand, and the end result, a capias (warrant) was filed for one of the people involved," said Capt. Jim McAuliffe of the Sanford Police Department.

Despite the arrest warrant, detectives said they could not find the shooter.
