ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — The Metropolitan Bureau of Investigation nabbed a man suspected of dealing in kilo quantities of cocaine from his downtown Orlando apartment.
Investigators said Friday they caught Jair Ramirez trying to sell a kilo of cocaine for $36,000 inside the 55 West high rise on Church Street.
Investigators said Ramirez’s drug-trafficking organization was supplying much of the cocaine hitting the streets of central Florida.
While out on bond for another high-profile cocaine-trafficking case from July, investigators said he was back in business inside his 25th floor apartment.
Ramirez was caught during an undercover sting.
In the July case, agents raided homes and offices across the region, seizing more than 12-kilos of cocaine and $600,000 in assets.
He was one of nine people arrested, all of whom were granted bond.
The drug case comes after police said a man opened fire on SWAT officers at 55 West during an unrelated drug investigation in June.
Investigators said the area has become a hot spot for crime, but they’re cracking down on the situation.
So far this year, there have been more than 500 calls for police service at the 55 West building.
A manager of the building was unaware of Ramirez’s arrest.
Ramirez is being held in the Orange County Jail on no bond.
