ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — More than ten new red light cameras will be coming to Orange County.
The new cameras will be installed in January, and nearly half of them will be on the same road: Orange Blossom Trail.
Business owner Sherif Morsy told WFTV a red light camera is badly needed at Orange Blossom Trail and Landstreet Road. He said he sees crashes all the time when he looks out the window of his business.
"Even though the door is closed, I can still hear the accident," Morsy said.
There have been several crashes at the intersection in 2013, including one in July in which two women were killed. Morsy thinks a red light camera could help.
"You can not stop the traffic accidents 100 percent, but at least you will avoid some of them," Morsy said.
The camera that will go at Orange Blossom Trail and Landstreet Road is just one of 12 slated to go up in January. Nearly half of them will be within a 5-mile stretch of Orange Blossom Trail between Holden Avenue and Taft Vineland Road.
Orange County officials haven't released a specific timeline of when the cameras will be installed and turned on.
Here's a list of the intersections that will soon have red light cameras:
- Orange Blossom Trail and Holden Avenue (2)
- Sand Lake Road and International Drive (2)
- Orange Blossom Trail and Landstreet Road
- Orange Blossom Trail and Americana Boulevard
- Lee Road and Adanson Street
