PALM BAY, Fla. — Today marks four years since a standout high school football player was shot and killed outside a Brevard County gas station.

His mother is working to honor him and help other children in need in their community.
Palm Bay High School football standout Twonnie Pollard was shot and killed after a dispute at a Melbourne gas station in 2018.

Pollard’s family and friends wanted him remembered for how he lived rather than how he died, and now they’re working to fulfill a final wish.
A vigil is set to be held for Pollard later tonight. A balloon release will happen around 6:30 p.m. off South Babcock Street where Pollard was shot, across from Palm Bay High School, where Pollard graduated in 2016.

His mother said more events will follow to support a foundation in her son’s name.
