MOUNT DORA, Fla. — Mount Dora homeowners tried to rescue a kitten that was trapped inside a wall in their home. However, after several failed attempts, they called the Mount Dora Fire Department for help.
Mount Dora firefighter Tara Holcomb reached through a small hole in the wall that had been cut earlier by the homeowner and was able to free the days-old kitten, whose eyes had not even opened yet.
Authorities said they suspect that the kitten's mother dropped it while walking through the attic.
After the rescue, the homeowners made a bed for it and fed it, hoping the mother would return.
But, the mother never did.
The day after the rescue, Holcomb checked back with the homeowners, who stated the kitten was recovering, but that they were unable to keep it.
Holcomb adopted the kitten and named it Wall-E.
