Families can explore history through hands-on activities inspired by the PBS Kids series through Jan. 9

Xavier Riddle exhibit opens Oct. 10 at Ocala’s Discovery Center

OCALA, Fla. — Families can dig for dinosaur bones, explore a secret garden and learn about historical figures at a new exhibit opening Saturday, Oct. 10, in Ocala.

“Xavier Riddle and the Secret Museum: The Exhibit” will be on display at the Discovery Center, 701 NE Sanchez Ave., through Jan. 9, 2027.

The center is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. It is closed to the public through Oct. 9 while the exhibit is installed.

Based on the PBS Kids series, the interactive exhibit follows Xavier Riddle, his sister Yadina and their friend Brad as they travel into the past to learn how historical figures handled challenges as children.

Visitors will enter the Secret Museum through a hidden passageway, where a hologram introduces three moments in history.

Activities include uncovering a dinosaur skeleton with paleontologist Mary Anning, exploring a garden with scientist George Washington Carver and examining X-rays with scientist Marie Curie.

In the Hall of Heroes, children can explore what makes someone a hero and how they can help others today.

The television series is inspired by “Ordinary People Change the World,” the children’s book series by Brad Meltzer and Chris Eliopoulos.
