School board votes to fire asst. H.S. coach accused of sending nude photos to player

OVIEDO, Fla. — On Tuesday night, the Seminole County School Board voted to fire an assistant high school girls' basketball coach accused of sending sexual messages to one of his players.

Jacob Ciesla, 20, used to coach the freshman team at Oviedo High School. Investigators said he was caught exchanging inappropriate Facebook messages with one of the players, who is 17 years old.

WFTV has learned that Oviedo police have not pursued charges at this time against Ciesla.

WFTV learned Ciesla asked the teen, “What have you done with guys?”

“Why are you interested in knowing?" she responded.

“I'm a guy. We always like to know. Ha ha,” Ciesla replied.

The messages continue into graphic, sexually explicit dialogue.

The girl's parents have declined to file charges. But according to police, Ciesla, who is also a substitute teacher, might have sent inappropriate text messages to other minors in Winter Springs.

Ciesla started with the school district in 2010 as an assistant coach after graduating from Oviedo High School.  He may be banned from ever working in the district again.

WFTV’s Daralene Jones spoke with Ciesla last week.

"I'm a 20-year-old that made a dumb decision,” Ciesla told Jones.

"What did you say to her?" asked Jones.

"Stuff," Ciesla said.

"Give me an example of what you were saying," Jones asked.

"I'm not going to say that. It was inappropriate. That's as much as I'll give you," said Ciesla.

Investigators said they got a complaint about the inappropriate messages a few weeks ago.

According to a police report, Ciesla sent nude photos of himself via text messages and then did more of the same through Facebook.

Ciesla said he flirted with the girl because she's pretty but never intended to get intimate with her, as some of the messages may have suggested.

"You know you can't have those kinds of interactions with students. What were you thinking?" Jones asked.

"I wasn't. I just wasn't thinking," Ciesla replied.
