WASHINGTON D.C. — After meeting with FEMA and Homeland Security representatives Friday, President Barack Obama told the public that Hurricane Matthew was dangerous and not to think otherwise.
“Pay attention to what your local officials are telling you,” Obama said.
The storm surge would likely cause the most damage, so even if an area wasn’t directly in Matthew’s path, they were not safe from the storm, he said.
Obama emphasized that the storm was not done and would likely cause additional damage as it moves up the coast.
“We are still on the front end of this hurricane,” he said. “We’re not on the back end.”
