OCSO: Deputy hit by car during attempted traffic stop in Orange County

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Deputies say a man whom they tried to pull over struck a deputy with his car while trying to escape.

The incident happened around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday along Oak Ridge Road near Winegard Road.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office said the driver ran from the scene, but was captured after a short chase on foot.

The deputy was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, but should be fine, OCSO said.

Investigators did not release the name of the suspect or say what charges he could face.
