BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — A man was shot near Kale Street and Glenwood Avenue Thursday in Satellite Beach, authorities said.
The man was transported to a hospital.
WFTV spoke with a neighbor who said he knows the teenage victim.
"We used to hang out, skate together, stuff like that. I mean, I haven't talked to him in a little while. He's doing his own thing. I'm kind of concerned for the parents. I don't know how they're taking this," said neighbor Michael Phillips.
The name of the victim has not been released.
Three schools initiated a self-imposed lockdown as a precaution due to police activity in the area, including Satellite High School, DeLaura Middle School and Holland Elementary School. However, the lockdowns have since been lifted.
Authorities said they are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Satellite Beach police and Brevard County sheriff's detectives are investigating the shooting.
