HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — A multi-agency human trafficking operation in Hillsborough County resulted in 116 arrests and the rescue of five victims, including two juvenile girls, officials announced.
A major focus of the operation was the investigation of Frank Amiekumo, who detectives say trafficked women and children over several years. Authorities said five victims connected to Amiekumo — three adult women and two juvenile girls — were rescued.
During Operation Relentless Summer, investigators conducted residential and dark web searches, launched undercover chat operations, met with minors, and performed sex offender compliance checks.
“Human trafficking is a crime that thrives in the shadows and operations like this one shine a light on it,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said. “Every arrest made during Operation Relentless Summer represents a predator who is no longer a threat to the families of Hillsborough County.”
Amiekumo was arrested at Tampa International Airport and held without bond. Investigators said he recruited women in Florida, Louisiana, and Texas for sex acts and online platforms, using false IDs, violence, and threats.
He faces multiple charges, including racketeering, human trafficking of a minor, lewd or lascivious battery, coercing prostitution, witness tampering and evidence tampering.
The operation remains ongoing, and investigators said additional arrests and victims may be identified as authorities work to serve outstanding warrants.
