Deputies: Fight at Disney Springs leads to panic, false alarm

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Orange County deputies responded to a fight Friday at Disney Springs, which led to a false alarm about a shot fired and commotion in the restaurant area.

Multiple Twitter users said there were crowds of panicked people in the area running and trying to get out of the complex.

Many said there were shots fired in the area, but deputies said the rumors were not true and it started as a fight between patrons. Deputies tweeted that order has been restored.

Deputies released a statement saying that at 9:24 p.m. there was a fight on the second-floor of Bongo's restaurant that caused loud noises and someone reported a shot being fired.

The fight caused guests to panic, but the report of a shot being fired was unfounded.

Several people called the Channel 9 newsroom believing there were shots fired.

"People started yelling, 'gun, gun.' At that point, I didn't  hear any shooting at all, but because people were running (and) I was with my 17-year-old daughter, I'm not taking any chances. At this point, I ran with the crowd. It was just like in the movies, you know, people were just running, falling," said patron Peter Vazquez.

Deputies said one person is under arrest for disorderly conduct. They did not identify that person.
