ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — An Orange County doctor is facing serious charges after an elderly woman came forward, saying he touched her inappropriately during a visit.
The 76-year-old woman was the patient of Dr. Elpidio Abreu for roughly seven years, authorities said. She said the assault happened inside his office in May.
Abreu, whose specialty is nephrology, the study of kidney function, is facing charges for lewd and lascivious molestation upon an elderly person.
According to Ocoee police, Abreu was supposed to read the patient's kidney function levels from a computer and didn't have any reason to examine her physically.
But the victim claims he kissed her on the mouth, grabbed her from behind, pinched her breast and put his hands inside her underwear, all without her consent.
Investigators said lab tests showed Abreu's DNA as on the inside the victim's pants and underwear.
Abreu turned himself in to authorities Friday.
