Central Florida’s Task Force 4 returns from Ida search and rescue help in Louisiana

ORLANDO, Fla. — A Central Florida urban search and rescue team returned Saturday after helping people recover from the destruction left behind by Hurricane Ida in Louisiana.

The team of 40 people shipped out Sunday, and said the area is going need help for a long time.

The team left from Orlando and drove all night to Baton Rouge.

They then helped with the search in the hard-hit city of Kenner and other areas throughout the state.

Florida Urban Search and Rescue Task Force 4 is based in Central Florida, and is a team effort between first responders and firefighters from several agencies.

The team said they searched areas just west of New Orleans for two days, and helped where they could.

They reunite with their families on Saturday for the first time in nearly a week.

The team said the search and rescue mission in Louisiana is winding down and the main focus is to restore power grids.
