The project hit several delays, one of the biggest being the pandemic.

Construction is now expected to start in July of next year.

The project will entail replacing the large pipe from Summerlin Avenue and South Street north about a mile and a half just past Highway 50.

The old cast iron pipe will be replaced with a more advanced pipe.

OUC is working with the city and other utilities on underground work that can be done while the street is torn up.

The work will be done in small sections to limit traffic problems and water shutoffs.

“It is a big project, and we realize there’s a lot of partners. We’ll continue to communicate with the people that live there,” said Tim Trudell with OUC.
