ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A driver and passenger fled the scene on foot after colliding with a school bus Friday, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
It happened around 7 p.m. at the corner of West Washington Street and Wilmer Avenue in the Orlovista neighborhood.
The bus driver told Channel 9 she was dropping off students from Carver Middle School who had extracurricular activities.
After she stopped at a stop sign and started to pull a way, a car sped up toward her and clipped the bus. The bumper was ripped from the car.
There were three students on the bus at the time and they were all OK, the bus driver said.
A neighbor said he saw two people run from the car right after the crash.
Parents picked up the students shortly after the crash.
The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating.
