Family, friends gather with Central Florida community to mourn the loss of Miya Marcano

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Friends and family, along with the Central Florida community, are mourning the loss of Miya Marcano after getting the news on Saturday that a body believed to be her was recovered.

After nights of praying for her safe return, the community held a vigil Saturday evening to say their goodbyes and support her family.

Long before the vigil began at 7:30 p.m., family, friends and strangers gathered at the site in the apartment complex where she was last seen.

Earlier in the day, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Marcano’s body was found in a wooded area in the troubled Tymber Skan condominium complex.

Her body was found 18 miles from where she lived and worked, at the Arden Villas apartment complex.

At the vigil on Saturday, her family said they were broken.

Marcano’s cousin said when she learned Miya wasn’t coming home, she was out, getting ready to search for her again in the New Smyrna area.

Her family said they are grateful the community has come together for Marcano.
