ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — More than 30,000 people lost their jobs at Disney, Universal and SeaWorld combined. But a company wants to hire 250 people – as long as they’re willing to move 1,200 miles, from Central Florida to Central New York.
The company has been interviewing candidates at a local hotel since Tuesday, and will do so through Friday. They’ve hired 15 people so far.
Clay Hodge was never called back to work, and is one of the 32,000 people Disney plans to lay off by March.

He’s made it by with a few odd jobs here and there, but now he’s hoping for something more permanent with Oneida Nation Enterprises, which owns and operates a number of high-end resorts, hotels, restaurants and leisure properties in Central New York.
The company is looking to fill 250 full-time hospitality jobs, for which Central Florida is known.
“You guys have got great talent down here, we have great job opportunities,” said Kathleen Dahlke, director of talent acquisition. “If we can make a match, let’s do it.”

The company is offering a variety of well-paid positions such as bartenders, servers, hotel staff and housekeepers.
Oneida Nation is also best known for Turning Stone Casino.
“We’re even offering a paid training program for somebody who wanted to get into gaming,” Dahlke said.
