Husband of fired Orange County deputy fired by county after paying resident to do his work, records show

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Less than six months after an investigation led to an Orange County deputy being fired for reportedly tipping off a person of interest in a homicide case, records show the county fired her husband for several infractions, including paying a resident to do his work for him.

An internal county investigative report says Ellis Daniley, who worked in the county’s parks and recreation department, was suspected of narcotics distribution, having a personal relationship with a narcotics dealer, being in a gang, having inappropriate interactions with a prostitute, and tax fraud.

But records show the county could not prove those allegations and no criminal charges were filed.

Records cited for his firing instead show he was using his time at work to conduct personal business, not paying for red light tickets, and had his license suspended twice without telling management.

Investigators said they also found Daniley was using his work email for personal business about 40% of the time and that he was paying a citizen to do some of his work, then turning it in as his own.

The county said Daniley’s job was to organize recreational activities for kids and senior citizens.

In total, county records show there were 17 violations in Daniley’s file prior to the latest infractions that led to his firing.

A county spokesperson said they were checking with employee relations to see if there is a threshold for how many violations an employee can have before they’re fired.

Danieley’s wife, former Orange County Lt. Tonjali Frost-Daniley, was fired from the Sheriff’s Office in September after an investigation linked her to a cocaine supplier and accused her of tipping off a person of interest in a homicide case.
