ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Heavy enforcement is underway along a stretch of Orange County Road considered dangerous by several families.
After two deadly crashes and at least three others with injuries in the past three months, investigators said they’re not stopping until something changes with the road.
Ocoee police and Orange County deputies are catching speedsters up and down Clarcona Ocoee Road. They’re focused on the intersection of Gaymar Drive, where three children and their mothers died last week. Another fatal crash happened at the same location just weeks earlier.

The extra patrols are already producing results. In an hour and a half, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office caught four drivers going 60 to 73 miles an hour, at least 15 miles over the speed limit.
Ocoee Commissioner George Oliver said he’s been trying for two years to fix speeding issues along Clarcona Ocoee Road.
“If I’m driving 45 miles an hour, (and) someone passes me at 70 miles an hour, it looks as if I’m going backwards,” he said.

The role speed may have played in the crash that killed five family members earlier this month is still under investigation.
Oliver said Ocoee police on Thursday made 16 stops, issuing 15 citations and 12 verbal warnings in their jurisdiction.
Meanwhile, Orange County deputies said they made 28 stops, issuing 51 citations on their stretch.
