Orange County could lift COVID-19 mandates by end of the week

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Mayor Jerry Demings said Wednesday all remaining COVID-19 mandates could be lifted by the end of the week.

That means no more county mask mandates, even though many people stopped wearing them following the governor’s orders that overruled county mandates.

Phase 3 will go into effect after Orange County hits 14 days of having a rolling positivity rate of 5% or less. On Wednesday, the county was at 4.5%.

About 55% of residents 16 or older have at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The county said at this point, the goal is to focus on getting people vaccinated, especially young people.
