Orange County parents face deadline to choose back-to-school option for students

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — On Friday, parents of students in Orange County will have to choose how they want their children to learn when school starts.

Parents have three options: face-to-face, LaunchEd at home or virtual school.

As of Wednesday night, the district reported 90,000 out of about 212,000 students completed choice registration.

The district said all students who are not registered for a back-to-school option by 5 p.m. Friday will automatically be put down for face-to-face learning.

Only 30% of teachers said they prefer to teach face-to-face right now.

The district said it is buying face masks and shields for students and teachers plus cleaning supplies to prepare for when schools reopen.
