ORLANDO, Fla. — Orlando city leaders celebrated the grand reopening of an affordable senior housing complex.

The Baptist Terrace senior housing community has gone through a full renovation.

The 14-story high rise was built in 1969 under a HUD program.

In 2020, it was purchased by a nonprofit developer.

“We are excited to join with ONIC to celebrate the grand reopening of Baptist Terrace,” Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer said. “As a city, this was a critical investment and partnership for us to ensure affordable housing options for our 225 senior residents who call Baptist Terrace home and further our mission that everyone in our community, regardless of economic status or age, has access to quality housing that is safe and affordable.”

The apartments are subsidized now with federal HUD money administered by the Orlando Housing Authority.

Seniors who live in the complex pay no more than 30% of their income in rent.
