Orlando police, community volunteers help well-deserving senior fix up his home

ORLANDO, Fla. — Members of the Orlando Police Department and the Central Florida community came out this weekend to help a local senior to fix up his home.

Police and community members helped to “paint, clear and polish,” the home of Mr. Long.

Officers said Long is a U.S. Army veteran, longtime Orlando resident and was the first Black mortgage broker in Central Florida.

Volunteers worked alongside Orlando police to give back to a well-deserving senior resident.

The work was done through the Senior Community Connection program, which brings together Orlando police, businesses and community volunteers to assist older seniors who need help due to physical and financial needs.
