PALM BAY, Fla. — The City of Palm Bay has terminated Assistant Fire Chief Brandon McKee, according to a letter obtained by WFTV.

City Manager Matthew Morton notified McKee that his employment with Palm Bay Fire Rescue was terminated effective Aug. 20.

The letter states that McKee was an at-will employee and that the city determined it was in its “best interest” to terminate his employment immediately. It does not provide a specific reason for the decision.

A city spokesperson told WFTV that she had no additional information about why McKee was terminated.

The city manager’s decision is final and binding, according to the letter. McKee was instructed to return all city property before receiving his final paycheck, scheduled for Aug. 28.
