ORLANDO, Fla. — Orlando Utilities Commission customers could see lower electric bills starting in April 2027 under a proposed fuel rate decrease.

The proposal would save a typical residential customer about $5 a month and deliver nearly $3.3 million in combined monthly savings across OUC’s electric customers.

A household using 1,000 kilowatt-hours a month would pay about $128.85 — $7.62 below the average charged by peer utilities across Florida, according to OUC. Commercial customers would also see savings, with the amount depending on energy use.

“At a time when families are paying more for just about everything, we know every dollar matters,” said OUC General Manager and CEO Clint Bullock.

Bullock said the proposed decrease reflects the utility’s efforts to manage costs and pass savings along to customers as electricity costs rise nationwide.

OUC also offers payment management options, rebates, and efficiency programs to help customers manage their energy and water costs.

The OUC Board of Commissioners is scheduled to vote on the proposal Dec. 15. If approved, the lower fuel rate would take effect in April 2027.
