Pedestrian dies after being struck by car in Orange County, troopers say

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — One pedestrian has died, and another is in the hospital after being struck by a car in Orange County Friday, Florida Highway Patrol said.

Troopers said the crash happened around 7:30 p.m. on State Road 50 (West Colonial Drive), west of Walkup Drive.

A Hyundai Elantra was traveling eastbound on West Colonial Drive.

Two pedestrians were walking across the eastbound lanes and got in the direct path of the Hyundai, which struck the two pedestrians.

The 80-year-old Orlando driver of the Hyundai was transported to HCA Florida Millenia Emergency with minor injuries.

The male pedestrian was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center where he died.

The second pedestrian, a female, was transported to ORMC in critical but stable condition.

No identities were given at this time.

FHP is still investigating the crash.
