ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Orange County’s Individual and Family Assistance Program application portal closed 30 minutes after opening Monday.

The portal opened at 8 a.m. Monday with new criteria. It allowed residents to apply for $1,000 grants to help them with things like rent and utility payments.

The county updated its eligibility requirements to allow other adult members in the same household to apply as individuals for the financial assistance.

The new criteria made it possible for roommates and other family members living in one household, who’ve been impacted by COVID-19 and over the age of 18, to be eligible to apply.

The system allowed 15,000 users to apply for the $1,000 grant.

Residents needed to prepare all required documents before applying.
