Man, teenager shot outside Orlando hotel, deputies say

ORLANDO, Fla. — A 35-year-old man and 15-year-old boy were shot outside a hotel Friday evening, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

Just before 9 p.m., deputies responded to the Katerina Hotel on Lee Road for a shooting call. At the scene they found the two victims suffering from gunshot wounds that were not considered to be life-threatening. The two victims were transported to the hospital.

As additional deputies were responding, an Orlando police helicopter spotted a vehicle leaving the parking lot of the hotel at high speeds, police said. The vehicle crashed at the intersection of U.S Route 441 and John Young Parkway, and the helicopter directed deputies to the scene, according to a news release.

It was not immediately known how many suspects were involved in the shooting.

Witnesses say they saw shell casings on the ground and a heavy police presence, and that one person was taken away in an ambulance.
