Sound the Alarm: Firefighters go door-to-door installing free smoke alarms

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Orange County Fire Rescue partnered with the American Red Cross on Saturday for its annual Sound the Alarm Event.

On Saturday, firefighters and volunteers went door-to-door in The Groves Community in Pine Hills with the goal of visiting more than 400 homes and offering to install free smoke alarms.

The #SoundTheAlarm initiative is about being proactive and ensuring residents are prepared and educated in the event of an emergency by installing free smoke alarms in homes that do not have them or need them replaced and educating residents about fire prevention and safety.

This event is part of a nationwide campaign to provide and install 50,000 free smoke alarms in at-risk communities.
