Thursday’s coronavirus updates: 174 new deaths, 8,500 new COVID-19 cases reported in Florida

ORLANDO, Fla. — Florida reported 8,525 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, with 1,678 cases in Central Florida.

The total number of cases now reported in Florida is 1,806,805.

The state also reported 174 new virus-related deaths, bringing the total number of deaths for residents statewide to 28,382.

Of the latest deaths, 33 were reported in Central Florida.

Polk County had the most deaths, with 20. Other deaths reported locally included four in Volusia, three in Osceola, two each in Seminole and Lake counties, and one in both Orange and Marion counties.

Brevard, Sumter and Flagler counties reported no deaths.
