UCF police investigating catalytic converter thefts from campus parking lots, garages

ORLANDO, Fla. — University of Central Florida police are urging students, staff and campus visitors to be aware of an increase in catalytic converter thefts on campus.

Since Thursday, UCF police said there have been at least six reports of catalytic converters stolen from vehicles parked in lots and garages on the main campus.

Officers said similar incidents have recently been reported off-campus in Orange County, as well as last month on UCF’s main campus.

Police said thieves likely crawl under vehicles and use basic tools to remove the converters.

Police are asking that the university community remain alert for this type of activity in parking lots and garages and call 911 immediately if it is observed.
